THE STORY WITHIN-A Healing Retreat with 14 Peaks (October 10-11)
The Story Within
A Healing Retreat with 14 Peaks
Your body holds the truth. Let’s listen.
Much of how we show up in the world — how we react, connect, protect, or withdraw — isn’t random. It’s rooted in the story we’ve lived. The nervous system remembers…
Neuroscience shows that when we begin to understand that story — the one written in our body and brain — we begin to understand why we do what we do. Why we pull away. Why we panic. Why we feel overwhelmed or numb.
Dr. Dan Siegel teaches that the way we make sense of our own story is one of the strongest predictors of how we will parent. That is how important our narrative is to our mind and body.
Your Story is not just in your Mind
What if it’s in your stomachache, your startle reflex, your need to run when things get loud?
Ask yourself…
- Do you flinch when someone enters the room unexpectedly?
- Does being in a crowd make you want to disappear?
- Does your body ache with no medical cause?
- When asked something simple, like “Did you take out the trash?”, do you feel your defenses go up?
- Do raised voices send you into hiding?
These aren't flaws. They're clues. They are defensive accommodations. These are the body’s way of speaking — messages from a nervous system that learned to survive. And within those messages lies a roadmap to healing.
At The Story Within retreat we will guide you through a gentle, powerful exploration of your internal world using:
- Polyvagal Theory to understand your states of regulation and defensive accommodations
- Somatic Experiencing to listen to the body’s story
- Interpersonal Neurobiology to integrate brain, body, and relationships
- Attachment Theory to uncover how you learned to connect — or protect
You’ll walk away with:
- A Trauma Timeline that brings clarity to how your story unfolded
- A Somatic Map to understand how emotion lives in your body
- A Polyvagal State Map to recognize your survival responses and find your way back to safety
- Insight into your Family Roles and how they shaped your nervous system
- A deeper understanding of your Attachment Style and how it still impacts your relationships today
- A Somatic Narrative that gives voice to the body’s experience
- A fully integrated Story of Healing, rooted in science and compassion
This weekend is more than a retreat. It's a roadmap to healing. A chance to organize pieces that are stuck in survival. Join us for The Story Within — a healing retreat with 14 Peaks.
Your story matters. And it’s time to listen.
